“Something very interesting happened…
…when we found it to be paramount…
…that we bridge between social codes…
…to find anyone who could recognize enough of the situation we were navigating…
…to respond appropriately…
…in some portion…
…with some decency and longevity.
We stopped categorizing people according to ideology.
We began to collect those in whom we found the capacity for human connectivity…
…the ones we met who responded { to our request from the intersections of greatest extremity }…
…to dialogue with us…
…and explore the potential…
…for solutions and collaborative strategy…
…collaborating with survivors of greatest severity.
Doing this has resulted in a vast mix of amazing, beautiful people who do not speak one another's languages necessarily — but who have all anchored with us in kindness and respect in some crucial way.
It is such a privilege to have met them, to get to know them, to return again and again to dialogue with them.
And it is a powerful priority of mine to introduce you to them.
