Meaningful Vocational Play

How many of us have felt — and are feeling — that way, right now?
My most direct path to solutions in tangled times has always been to find meaning… vocation… and a deep-rooted, fundamentally biological form of play… in the hardest experiences and greatest challenges.
The process must be mindful, especially for playful energy to be tuned wisely and with care while meeting very serious situations; and it's not always easy to make this connection.
But it never fails me once I do.
In the most daunting circumstance, there is a core of nourishment, growth, and joy.
Your greatest gifts unfold from your biggest obstacles, if you learn how to recognize the process that reveals them.
A place I focus in somatic imagining is: The powerful life energy of a living being… full of ancestral strength… meeting a challenge that is natural to its lifespan.
A challenge that all those who went before it have prepared it to succeed through.
I am many creatures when I practice this; sometimes one at a time; sometimes more of us together.
Jaguar… Lion… Tiger. Wolf. Elephant. Bear. Horse. Wren. Mountain goat. Dolphin. Wild boar. Magpie… Raven… Bluejay… Crow. Otter. Narwhal. Deer. Rhinoceros. Crane. Rabbit. Tardigrade. Salmon. Hawk.
Sometimes I am a Tree… or a Medicinal Weed… or a Wildflower… or a Seed.
What challenges does this living being meet as it moves through its life?
As humans, we often decry (and struggle with) the unnatural conditions we are living in. But what if our current challenges are… in an important way… natural to each of us?
If we felt that, how would we then rise to that challenge… and become our truest selves by meeting it?
What is the inherent joy in that?
How might we find ourselves… swimming in our element?
How does it serve our bodies, families, and communities for us to discover that power in us — emergent?
What magnificently-resonant meaning do we find in meeting that challenge vibrantly and well?
What livelihood does it deepen and regenerate?
